Kashmir the Valley of Misery…

1 year 5 months and 13 days the lockdown continues with essential leaders in custody, with blocked services, with militarized streets, with forced disappearances, with tortured cases, with brutalized rapes by Indian armed forces for decades. 72 years of conflict besides being the longest unresolved dispute Kashmir might be the world’s most miserably valley.

At least 8000 families in Kashmir claimed they had lost their loved ones to enforced disappearances between 1989 and 2009. Indian forces deny any accusations of having custody of any information. Let me tell you these are often cases of association with torture or extrajudicial killing.

It is all part of a systematic campaign of oppression, extremism, fascism, racist Hindu Supremacist ideology and authoritarian democracy which has taken over India. Many rights groups declared a higher figure than 100,000 death since 1989. After August 5, 2019, when the semi-autonomous status of the people of Jammu and Kashmir was revoked the military turned more ferocious and intensified its counter-insurgency operations. Wikipedia states the main goal to revoked this status was to counter-terrorism and peacekeeping. A peculiar way of keeping the peace when within the first few days of August when Article 370 was revoked, something was aloof about the valley of Kashmir.

An abominable way of countering terrorism when thousands of additional Indian armed forces were placed in August 2019, when school and colleges were shut when crucial Hindu pilgrimages were cancelled when tourists were forced to leave when all kinds of communication were unavailable when major leaders were taken into custody or placed under house arrest. I applaud the goal measurement of the Indian authorities when the violence committed by them in the 30-year time is unimaginable.

Why is Kashmir so Important for the Indian Government?

The region is a melting point and a geopolitical hotspot. Its next-door neighbours are Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Xinjiang and Tibet. Numerous races, cultures and religions cross paths in this region. Even though it is home to many Muslims, however, it also includes Hindus, Buddhists and many native spiritual cultures. Jhelum, Indus, Tawi, Ravi and Chenab are major rivers flowing through the state. These are the rivers that feed hundreds of millions of downstream flow through it. There are two other nuclear powers which also lays claims on the valley Pakistan and China. These outcomes a spectre of extreme catastrophic conflicts and events.

Many people do know it is all part of the BJP plan to convert the demographic character of the Muslim Majority region by giving permission to Non-Muslims Indians to buy land and make a majority.

An extremely barbarous way to take control of the Valley and make majority . Now when Indian forces decided to become Fascist monsters and 8 million Kashmiris are at risk. They are assassinating the minorities to showcase Kashmir and Pakistan the Indian dominance. India is worlds biggest democracy started as a barely functioning democracy and turned authoritarian. I would not be surprised if they took the Chinese Communist roots. They might be arch-nemesis right now ,however they do seem to share the same DNA of dominance and greed for power. Now Kashmir does not have a separate constitution or have an authority of their own. Even though the Indian governments claims that corruption increased in the area and there was no possible development taking place.

Once again, a detestable way to bring development in such a way where human rights violations are on peak yet the Indian government thinks they scored a historic victory. Major opposition parties claim it is a “historic blunder” a “catastrophic step”. Unfortunately, the opposition parties will not legally challenge the government on the matter of Kashmir because it is a sensitive topic for many Indians and they are scared to be branded as “anti-nationals”.

UN Involvement in Jammu and Kashmir

Kashmir is one of the longest unresolved disputes in the World. It is also a flashpoint for two nuclear powers. India and Pakistan have engaged in fights over the Kashmir region several times. On the other hand, Many Kashmiris are fighting hard for their “Right to Determination” from the UN for decades. The UN (May 29 2020) stated that both India and Pakistan should withdraw military forces and organise a referendum in order to give the people of Kashmir the right choice of which state to join. In 1916, Woodrow Wilson stated that the right to self-determination is not just a mere phrase. The last resolution passed on Kashmir was on 1 January 1948 where no real change was executed. My question is to the United Nations whilst all the solutions look spectacular on the papers and websites how will you implement them. The real question is When it has been 72 years after all. I want to ask why this prejudice against Muslims when solutions and actions were implemented within a matter of weeks for the Christians of Papua province in Indonesia.

Are the miseries, screams and human rights violation of People of the Kashmir Valley not haunting enough for United Nations to take real action against those fascist Monsters…
